This type of skin is primarily diagnosed with skin reactions such as pustules, erosion of the skin, skin bumps or; skin dehydration; blushing and skin flushing tendencies. Sensitive skin may not be that extreme and may look normal, fair and delicate looking as young or baby-like in appearance. Many individuals believe that when they touch the skin with some household or skincare ingredients, it causes sensitivity, inflammation, redness, discomfort, burning, and dryness.

Eczema is a term for a skin condition that causes skin inflammation or irritation, generally characterized by a rash that causes itching. On the forehead, back of the knees, feet, hands, or wrists, the rash most commonly occurs, but other parts can also be affected. Atopic dermatitis or Atopic eczema is the known and most common type of eczema. The affected areas usually appear very dusty, thickened, or scaly. It is best to get a dermatologist review and affirm if it's allergic skin or eczema.

Reasons for causing Sensitive and Eczema Prone Skin

  • Extreme and continuous exposure to environmental factors damages the skin - like sun and wind or high or low temperatures.

  • Allergic skin reactions - Recurrent exposure to an irritant or allergen can cause the body's immune system to respond over actively, frequently presenting as allergic contact dermatitis, rosacea, or eczema.

  • Over usage of detergents, chemicals, and detergents removes natural oils, fats and nutrients that protect and keep the skin hydrated, stable and healthy. Stop being tempted to overwash yourself.

  • Comedogenic cosmetic overuse, such as foundations or concealers. These form an occlusive layer on the epidermis that is exposed to oxygen and does not allow the skin to breathe.

  • Poor diet or lifestyle practices may lead to allergic skin or eczema outbreaks: not drinking enough water, poor dietary choices, poor personal hygiene, excessive stress or lack of sufficient sleep/insomnia.

  • In the case of skin sensitivity and eczema, genetic factors can also play a role.

Skincare Solutions for Sensitive and Eczema Prone Skin

For sensitive skin, it is not easy to test, as several factors can contribute. Testing for allergies may help identify specific ingredients or products that trigger or lead to irritation. Try to pay attention to which items or ingredients bring you grief and work to avoid them.

  • Follow an easy, gentle skincare method - treat your skin gently and use gentle, natural skincare products and cleansers. Sensitive skin can be intensified by frequent cleansing, exposure to environmental elements, and other irritants.

  • Buy ones with ingredients that are safe and natural and have little to no fragrance. Those products containing alcohol can be very drying to the skin, so avoid them. Also, avoid harsh additives and detergents that eliminate natural oils from the skin, e.g. SLES / SLS.

  • Anyone with sensitive skin will want to restrict products containing several unidentifiable synthetic ingredients and avoid chemically fragranced or potentially irritating products containing ingredients such as alcohols, retinoids or AHAs (alpha-hydroxy acids). Look for items that have been formulated specifically for sensitive skin. Before buying, read the description. Many individuals have started to develop their own products to manage allergic or eczema-prone skin, with wonderful results.

  • Hot, long showers are bad for drying out skin, so try to take quick, warm or even cool showers instead. Avoid stuff that will provoke sensitive skin or eczema. Before shaving, apply shaving cream, gel or lotion to lubricate and protect your skin during shaving. Do not shave against the direction that the hair grows. Gently pat the skin dry with a towel after washing or bathing, and apply moisturizer while the skin is still damp.

  • Drinking 8-10 glasses of water every day would maintain hydration and set a diet comprising a wide range of fruits, vegetables and healthy plant fats and oils. Adopt a regular sleep schedule and exercise regimen to feel relaxed and reduce the body's negative effects of stress. Stress management is important, as uncontrolled stress will make the skin more susceptible and potentially cause eczema complications.
